Pew Research Center: Global Unease with Major World Powers and Leaders

advertisement

A 47-nation survey finds global public opinion increasingly wary of the world's dominant nations and disapproving of their leaders. Anti-Americanism is extensive, as it has been for the past five years. At the same time, the image of China has slipped significantly among the publics of other major nations. Opinion about Russia is mixed, but confidence in its president, Vladimir Putin, has declined sharply. In fact, the Russian leader's negatives have soared to the point that they mirror the nearly worldwide lack of confidence in George W. Bush

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Amazing is that more Canadians, Brits, Germans, Italians and French trust Vladimir Putin's global leadership more than Bush's. That's nothing if not incredible.

I think Bush should resign and I'm not being partisan. If the leader of the free (and unfree) world can not command the trust of the world or his own country, he should go.

That's why I like parliamentary systems, and why they are more democratic.

I don't disagree. But you have lived in the USA: The average American takes it as a badge of pride if the world doesn't like them.

Every era seems to have ots global village idiots spoiling things for everyone else.

Yes that's true. The ghastliness of the Bush situation is that he's 26% even at home.
