I am an atheist - especially when it comes to organized religion.
WAIT! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE!
THIS is an article about dreams and hope.
VERY BRIEFLY among the many reasons I am an atheist:
- Mankind has existed on Earth for only a few millions years, a heartbeat in the age of the Universe
- Earth is barely a speck of sand in a distant corner of the Universe.
How arrogant to think that God created this massive universe just for us! It makes no sense that he would go to all this trouble just for us and yet make mankind (womenkind?) such a minor piece of his plans.
So, get to the hope and dreams part, stat
This remarkable discovery appears to confirm the suspicions of most astronomers that the universe is swarming with Earth-like worlds.
Swarming with earth like planets? And look at the photos and read the seed. It sounds like a really nice place. Maybe God did create the universe for mankind. There's just more of us than us little earthlings imagined. Swarms of planets full of Humans everywhere.
Now I have no illusions of making it 20 light years to anywhere before my liver gives out, but this discovery has had a dramatic effect on my belief systems and faith.
Let's assume for the minute there is a God.
For the sake of the article I'll go with Jesus and his Dad, but Jehova or Thor and many other fine candidates would also do. Now, if God created the Universe for man, and one can believe all this bible stuff, then clearly, all these swarms of planets have Humans on them - or at least a lot of them. It only makes sense.
Aren't you worried about Little Green men or other strange creatures?
Not in the least: Remembering I am assuming God exists and the Bible is reasonably reasonable. If so, then evolution is nonsense, so other planets should be littered with Humans, and Goats, and Geese, and worms. Now maybe God has played around with a little variety - dogs behaving as cool as cats or something.
But certainly not when it comes to the "Chosen Ones" - Humans I mean. Because the universe is all about us - you and me.
Sweet. Are you still with me. I AM ON A LOGIC ROLL!
Now if the above is true, then Heaven exists - and hell - but I am not a bad guy. So assuming the membership requirements aren't too exclusive, I am there. We can discuss possible membership requirements in a future article.
Now here's the hope part: Since Heaven exists - something I certainly doubted 24 minutes ago - maybe; just maybe, so does reincarnation. Wow suddenly the world doesn't seem to be such a bleak place.
I am well pleased. I am really hoping to get a better location next time round. This place is getting smoggy and hot. I am going to pray to Thor tonite in the hope that it helps.
